Reserving a kid
Contact with pairing or doe you are interested in getting a kid out of. Please send contact info along with your email address. Once born, I will contact the first person who made a reservation via email and/or text(those who paid a deposit will be contacted first). If I don’t hear back within 48 hours then next person on the list will be contacted.
If you decide you want the kid(s). I willrequire a $100 non-refundable hold fee for doelings and $50 non-refundable hold fee for wethers. Refunded only if kid is not healthy when weaned. That means once you put a deposit down you will not get it back if you decide to not purchase the goat.
Picking up a kid and delivery
kid must be picked up within a week of being weaned. Weaning is 8-9 weeks. I will let you know what week or two would work for pickup. For whatever reason this time frame doesn’t work we do offer boarding at $3.oo a day. As of 2022 half the boarding fees will be paid up front if goat needs to stay longer then a week after purchase. I am no longer willing to hold for months for a transporter, so please don’t ask unless you are willing to pay a boarding fee. If transporter doesn’t work out the boarding fee is not refundable!
I can also deliver if needed. I do not like driving and I have a full time job which makes my free time limited. So I charge $.75 a mile(round trip).
guarantee
My herd is healthy! All goats over a year old were tested on nov 12 2021 and were negative for CAE, CL, and Johnes. Castle rock pinpoint clover was also negative for brucellosis and blue tongue in late summer of 2021 before being sold. I will not sell a goat if I think something is wrong or they are not 100 percent.
Kids will be disbudded(2-7 days old) , toltrazuril given every 21 days for coccidia prevention and first cd&t vaccine at 8 weeks(if still here).Bucklings will also be banded at 7-8 weeks. I can not guarantee any animal after leaving the farm. I do my best with disbudding , but cant guarantee no scurs will grow especially on bucklings. I do however, enjoy hearing about goats that I sold. So feel free to email me anytime with an update, or question.
a note about what I feed
My goats are fed 75% orchard and 25% alfalfa hay free choice all year long(sometimes the mix has less alfalfa). Sweetlix meatmaker crumble(mineral mix) mixed with kelp, diamond yeast, selenium crumble and flax seed are given free choice(free choice for me is being offered the minerals multiple times a week. It rains a lot so I can not leave minerals out.)If a doe needs more calories she is fed crimped oats and alfalfa pellets/pnw mix. Replamin is given every 7-10 days (since purchasing a selenium crumble I give replamin every 2 weeks) and copper bolus are given every three- four months on average due to high minerals in the water. My doe herd is on a few acres of blackberry/grass/tree hillside so they browse most days.
I do not make a profit raising goats(I go thru $210 worth of hay a week on average not counting waste). I hoped to be able to make enough on sales to pay for the hay eventually. Sadly, with the way hay prices are(and fuel), I will not be able to sell enough kids to pay for the feed. I am planning on having a few more does available, due to such an increase in feed prices. Having a low paying job I just can’t afford to spend so much on feed and I can’t raise prices on my goats either to offset the cost. But I love my goats.
